This school year is finally over. However, all that means for teachers is that we can start pondering over what we can do to improve next year. Classroom management is one of the biggest challenges that teachers face. It seems that we are continuously updating our plans and trying to find methods that work.

Class Dojo is an educational technology communication app and website. It's very easy to set up whether you're using an Apple or Android device -- there's an app available for both. With this tool, I  I can improve behavior, share data, and save time. There are some naysayers  in regards to this app. There have been concerns regarding the psychological impact of public displays of student success on sensitive students. This is something that you must keep in my mind when implementing any activities not just Class Dojo. You know your students so if you feel you have a student who doesn't like public praise then don't vocalize their praise. The student can still be awarded points in the app.

To implement Class Dojo in the classroom there are many steps that must be taken. I will simply speak on the steps that must be taken inside the classroom only. I would definitely use teacher modeling to introduce Class Dojo. First, it would be wise to  show the introductory video. Then, I can visit the site and demonstrate how it works. I believe this is where students interests would be peaked. Students will have the opportunity to browse the different avatars and customization and develop one that represents them. Next, it is important that I go over expectations and goals with the class and receive their feedback. As teachers, we must remember to include our students in on things pertaining to classroom management. They are more likely to adhere to the plan when they are involved. They will have the task of creating a  personal goal and a classroom goal. Throughout the process students would be encouraged to ask questions.

I'm sure, like most things we implement in the classroom, this will not work immediately. It will require continued teacher modeling and teacher reinforcement. With practice anything is possible.
