Glogster is a platform for interactive learning. It allows users to incorporate various types of media on a virtual canvas to create multimedia posters. Glogster encourages interactive and collaborative education, as well as, digital literacy.
There are so many ways to use Glogster in the classroom. However, the instructional strategy I would use is assigning an open ended project. Comparable to evaluating reading comprehension, I would give students a list of projects to find one that lets them effectively demonstrate their knowledge. They would be provided a clear rubric for each type of project, which clearly defines expectations. Doing so will keep it challenging and help students meet specific criteria.
The great thing about Glogster is that it both entices and challenges students. This is an excellent idea for distance learning because it develops presentation skills, improves student engagement, increases digital literacy, encourages creativity, and is paperless. With all of these great attributes there is still one aspect that may present a problem, time. Creating a Glog can be time consuming, especially if you are new to the program. A Glogster lesson may take several days and several hours of work time. With teachers and students always on a strict schedule, this could present some potential issues. I believe that because our school is now going to 1:1 classrooms this may alleviate this issue. I can also provide mini due dates for project checkpoints to monitor student progress.
