Google Jamboard is an interactive whiteboard. Jamboards empower students to engage in the lesson through the collaboration. One strategy that can be used with the Jamboard is having students create a Graffiti board. These are a great way to gauge student understanding. Students record their feedback about a topic. The purpose of this strategy is to help students collaborate through hearing others ideas. This normally sparks a great discussion. Most teachers normally have their students do these on regular whiteboards or posters but if you use the Jamboard you’ll be able to save the graffiti walls and share them with the students. I would definitely ensure that you have rules in place for students using digital technology. If you allow the option, students are able to edit collaborative Jamboards. This means that students can potentially erase another group members work. One thing to keep in mind when using the Jamboard, is that you are not able to download any third-party apps. It is important when planning your lesson to make sure that the Jamboard is capable of everything you require it to do. There is no way to enhance the Jamboard through use of other apps. I like to use multiple apps simultaneously so this would definitely be something I would need to pay attention to in planning. The versatility of the Jamboards can enhance learning for all. They are a great way to start or end a unit. I can definitely see myself using it in the future to create a review of the unit for my students. Subscribe here to get more content like this!
