This is where you update information for your students and parents. Your school may be equipped with an existing learning platform. My school requires us to use Google Classroom. Incorporate a version of the “flipped classroom” model. Teachers can introduce content and provide background knowledge that students can use during group or one-on-one discussions. Create tutorials and short lessons. I have found that providing a recording of you teaching a lesson can be just as engaging as classroom instruction and interaction. Encourage student collaboration and discourse. As a math teacher, I try to find creative ways to incorporate mathematical discourse in my classroom. The best way is through student collaboration. Teachers should offer and post their office hours. This is a great way to answer questions and provide academic support. Provide students with individualized support and feedback. This is the opportunity to provide targeted instruction to all students. Be sure to highlight their achievements. Design opportunities for hands-on learning. Offer enrichment opportunities for all students. There are so many enrichment opportunities available online. These are meant to enhance student learning and engagement. Assess student learning. Teachers should always be monitoring student progress. It is important to give immediate and specific feedback. Lastly, provide self-assessment opportunities. This can be achieved through student reflections, graphic organizers, and individual targets.
