Whether mobile devices should be incorporated into the instruction and learning environment is a topic that has been discussed in classrooms, as well as, Congress. Those who oppose the idea believe mobile devices will create a distraction, while those in favor believe they allow educators more differentiation in their instructional practices in the classroom. Julie Evans created a report that includes input from 340,927 K-12 students and 34,833 teachers, along with librarians, administrators, parents and community members from over 10,600 public and private schools and 3,200 districts across the United States. The report, titled “Beyond Engagement '', found that school principals value the use of technology because it empowers students to take ownership of their learning, 1:1 technology provides equitable access to learning throughout the classroom, and the use of digital tools helps students have more equitable learning experiences at school.
